The problem of smoking is very current. A lot of people around the world can’t imagine their life without cigarettes. Statistics say that more than 1.1 billion of people have this bad habit. Most of them started smoking when they were teenagers. Why so many persons do this? What should the Government do to prevent spreading of cigarettes?
Reasons for smoking
People are curious in the effect that cigarettes can make on them. Human beings want to feel something new; they believe that these drugs will help them to experience happiness and satisfaction.
Teenagers smoke because they want to seem mature. If a person tries cigarettes, he or she is not a child anymore; he/she is an adult.
Bore. If an individual is bored, he/she finds something to do. Smoking helps to kill the time while waiting.
Especially teenagers smoke in order to be cool persons. It is a kind of fashion and emancipation from their parents who say that this action is unhealthy.
Freud said that people from their early childhood like to suck anything. And if a baby wasn’t breastfed, he or she will smoke because this instinct wasn’t satisfied.
If smoking is bad, should the Government ban tobacco?
Banning tobacco isn’t a good idea because it is a choice of an individual to smoke or not. Why should someone decide what to do. All of smokers know that this habit is unhealthy, it is lead to diseases. People can take the responsibility on themselves. If they want to ban tobacco, they should also ban alcohol, fast food. For forbidding something must be stronger criteria.
Smoking is an addiction which suppress people. But everyone must decide whether to take drugs or not. People are responsible for their health. In order to prevent spreading of this habit there should be more social adverting about the consequences of smoking.
I am 57 years old. He began to smoke at 8 years old. Now even doctors are not recommended throwing. Lung disease, there can be a crisis. Yes, I will not give up already, for me it’s like a second wind. If I do not smoke at least once an hour, it seems to me that I’m suffocating …
